We look forward to sharing this unique and wonderful place with you.

The homestead has 17 rooms, 7 bedrooms and can be divided basically in half by a large entertainment room which separates "The Flat" and the original homestead whilst using  a common kitchen.

"The Flat" has a double bed and ensuite with old world charm using Grandma's original furniture. A large lounge meeting room and two adjoining bedrooms, one single and one double have access to the main bathroom and separate toilet. An additional room with 3 single beds is conveniently located near this area although technically part of the original homestead.

The Original homestead circa 1910 has pine polished floor boards, a very large Australian oak table and chairs. Cooling is rarely needed with 18" thick stone walls and 14ft high pressed tin ceilings in the two original  rooms. The gift of  a split system airconditioning is rarely used. In winter a huge double fire place is used for warmth on those rare chilly nights. A return verandah allows the magnificant sunsets to be enjoyed along with a the Aussie BBQ at one end. Paving and a native garden blends into the landscape. The art work is unique and a must see. Oh a cement tennis court can be used as such or is a great place for children to skate board.

The other accomodation is a log cabin called Elkanah built on the banks of the Utunyah water hole is far enough away not to interfere with the homestead but within easy walking distance if a group wants to rent all the accomodation 18-25 people.

Ideal for retreats, get aways or family groups. Catering can be supplied if needed.

300 acres of pristine scrub fenced as a linear park encompassing the Utunyah rockholes and the Driver River allows many oportunities for bush walking in several eco systems. Rich in Native Flora and fauna and with no fear of trespassing, allows some great walks often seeing a family of kangaroos and an abundance of bird life .

Utunyah Intro
Tuesday, 09 January 2007

Utunyah has an interesting history used by local aboriginal tribes for water during their hunting trips and early pioneer families as a swimming hole and meeting place. The Driver River Methodist church was founded on its banks by Mr Alan Cowley and is still actively used by locals. Utunyah is currently used as a &B and on farm accomedation. The Homestead was built in 1910 and a cottage which is used as guest accomedation was joined to the homestead using jetty pilons as uprights in 1986. Two cottages were added in 1984 on the banks of the Utunyah rock hole. Elkanah is a three bedroom log cabin and is well used, Shiloh a larger house with mud brick walls is "at lock up stage" and  a bush camping site overlooking the waterhole is being developed.  Currently used as a B&B and  Farm stay accomedation, using the homestead and a 3 bdr log cabin overlooking the waterhole. A beautifull peacefull setting, swimming relaxing magnificent sunsets and bush walking through 300 acres of pristine scrub land where the water from the rockholes meet the Driver River.

Utunyah has a rich history.

Geological, aboriginal, early settlement and local community use. (see below)
